One Fan’s Health & Weight Loss Journey with Salsarita’s

It’s no secret that our daily routines have been flipped on their heads this year. Creating new ones is just a small way of helping us maintaining normalcy, but it isn’t easy. However, some of you have taken this time to make a better version of your routines and we’re all for it, especially when that better version involves Salsarita’s!

Meet Josh Suiter, a Louisville resident and longtime Salsarita’s fan who put his health in the front seat while still treating himself to his favorite tex-mex. Josh took his wellbeing head on by changing his eating habits, tracking every meal, and getting more active. Josh lost 30lbs without giving up his favorite queso. We wanted to know what it was like to get healthier during a global pandemic but also how he did it with Salsarita’s!

How have you been staying healthy and active during these crazy quarantine times?

I try to monitor what I eat using MyFitness Pal and monitoring  my carbs, proteins and fats and working out 3-4 days a week using a variety of workouts as well as the Planet Fitness at home workouts, running and some additional workouts on my own.

Why is it important for you to live a healthy lifestyle?

I am a father of two beautiful girls and I want to make sure I am here for a long time to love on them and help guide them. I also want to be able to keep up with them and being healthier enables me to do that.

How does Salsarita’s fit into your healthy lifestyle?

I am constantly on the go in this job and I am always looking for healthy places to eat that are chamber members. Salsarita’s helps me do both. Pam [Salsarita’s Louisville franchisee) and Dave (Salsarita’s Louisville catering manager) are always so supportive of us so I am all about supporting them as well.

Do you have any tips or advice for people looking to improve their health and wellness?

My advice is to use MyFitness Pal. It enables you to monitor your macros so that you can get healthier while not 100% restricting you of everything you like to eat. For example, I may go to Salsarita’s and get a salad but add in that addictive queso. You can splurge without going overboard. I would also suggest finding a gym (when I can go in person I am a Planet Fitness guy) that meets your needs and has a schedule that works with yours. If that doesn’t work, find a trainer who can come to you or a workout you can do from your living room. I also recently started riding my bike and love being able to cruise all over the place. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Since starting in January, I have lost about 30 pounds and I feel better than I have in years.

What’s your go-to Salsarita’s order?

Aside from queso 😊, I like the chicken burrito bowls, the grilled chicken salad and the cheese quesadilla.
